The teams arrived and got settled. After dinner, Kelli Gardner shared what God has been doing in her life in the last 2 years. She has learned that as she takes a step of faith, God has already prepared the way for her. Last November she met miss Carol when she took a thanksgiving basket to her. Carol was disappointed that nobody from the church came to check up on her after the tornado of April 2011. She ended up getting 2 baskets, and Kelli told her to keep them both- it was God blessing her.
When Kelli saw Carol's place, she had a desire to help her have a better living situation. Her yard had a lot of trash in it, and her trailer was litteraly falling down around her.
An AIM team came in March, and Kelli asked if we could help clean up Carol's yard. The team nearly finished the project. It pained them to leave some work undone.
God had a plan though. Another team came in the following week. They went to finish the clean up work. They were moved to do more for Carol- and started the workings for a new home for her. God made a way! With many people giving of their time and resources, and the help of the Long Term Recovery team, her new 2 bedroom home is nearly finished. Our team will do some inside work. Soon Carol and her grandson Cody will be moving into a new home. Carol was hard hearted concerning God when Kelli started visiting with her. At the name of Jesus she would change the subject. As God was working through His people to minister to Carol, her heart has softened. She has said "maybe we should post a sign about God making a way". What a change in Carol's heart!
We ended our time together in small groups, praying for Carol and for Cody. Our hearts are tender for them. We look forward to working on Carol's house later this week.
I was part of the team that cleaned up most of her yard. I am excited to go back and visit with Carol and see with my eyes what God has been doing.
