Tonight we went into Rainsville and parked next to the former Huddle House.  We were standing in the path of the April 27, 2011 tornado.  We went to the civic center, the school, and the Huddle House and prayed "onsight with insight".  God gave insight, and it guided our prayers.
What was it like for your school to be wiped out by a tornado?  School closed the day the tornado hit.  What was it like to be going into a little portable classroom?  How many friends died in the tornado?
The civic center is a landmark in town.  It was hit hard.  There will be a memorial service for all those lost last year on the anniversary date.
The Huddle House was the only 24 hour food place in Rainsville.  People were hanging out there when the tornado hit- because the Huddle House had power- and some had been without power since the day before the tornado.  25 lives were lost there.  As we were there, we saw the big industrial freezer- that's all that remains.  The floor tiles are still in place.  You could see where the kitchen was, where the booths were…. Was this a place someone always came to celebrate their birthday?   Was this a once a week date night destination?  What did this place mean to the people of Rainsville.  What is it like driving by and seeing a large industrial freezer- the only thing left?
It changed how we prayed, to be on this sight.  We had insight.
Oh yeah- it was dark when we did this prayer walk- we thought about what it was like the night that followed the tornado.  No electric, no light.  Wondering what all had happened.  For us it was dark and wet, as there was a light rain as we were out on this prayer walk.  We got onto a bus and came back to Destiny Church with little effort.  They were without- and would be for some time.  It really made us think.  It helped us know better how to pray.
