I had someone tell me today that they had an idea that they needed to be expert master carpenters and roofers to be able to come and help in the relief effort in Alabama.  She came out to Alabama anyways to see if she could still help.  What she soon discovered is that she didn't need to know anything at all.

We took her and her team out to a Shiloh Church of the Nazarene to replace windows that were blown out from the storm.  She had never put a window in ever in her life.  What she didn't know is that none of the team did.  Yet, we were able to get new windows and frames in for the Church.  Although some knowledge of carpentry and engineering is required, all she needed was some basic guidance to be able to replace that window.

We absolutely need skilled labor here in Alabama, but it is not required.  Just because we don't have previous knowledge of how to do something doesn't mean we can't do it.  Nothing is impossible for God, and that includes the relief work taking place in Alabama right now.

There is a requirement to help, and that's to have a heart ready and willing to serve.  A team from a Nazarene Church in Kentucky showed up last minute as we were leaving to go home yesterday.  They came out here and didn't bring any tools at all.  But don't think that they can't do anything.  There is so much that can be done without a hammer and nails.  People's hearts are still broken and need Jesus to help fill the holes and bring a new one along.  If you want to help, don't let the things that you do or don't know stop you from coming out here.  We need you just as much as we need an expert carpenter.  Don't let any "I can't" sentences stop you from doing what God has called you to do.
